Presented by Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), the 12th International UMT Annual Symposium (UMTAS2013) will focus on various emerging issues on science and technology in all areas of freshwater, marine and maritime studies. As a focused comprehensive university, UMT has played an active role in these areas, particularly as they play a vital role in Malaysia’s economic and social development.

This symposium will not only address regional issues but international ones as well, in order to meet a broad range of global challenges and to promote stronger links between science and innovation systems through knowledge creation and global sharing. It is hoped that through this symposium, participants will have the opportunity to share and exchange knowledge, achievements and experiences in related disciplines and at the same time stimulate future collaborations.

This year’s theme, “Advancements in Marine and Freshwater Sciences”, encompasses six designated scopes, all of which are brought together under the main theme of the symposium.

The 3-day symposium will be held from 8th – 10th October 2013 in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. We welcome not only colleagues from the field of academia, but also from industries and researchers who apply science, technology and innovation in their work.
